After leaving Syracuse University (BFA/film) in 1992, I started out in film & television in Chicago and Memphis (Mo' Money, Baby's Day Out, Harpo Studios, Tom Sinnott, David Deahl, Bob Ebel, A Family Thing, People vs. Larry Flint, among others). Then, over the years, I've done non-linear editing, Director and Authorware interactive development, 3D & AfterEffects animation, corporate intranet development in LotusNotes, packaging and point-of-sale design ? much of it for companies like Sara Lee Foods, FedEx, Hilton, McDonalds, Wright Medical, Heraeus, and the like.
In 2004, I quit my job (with five months' notice), left Memphis with my wife and kids, and started Kohli Marketing Design LLC in Goodyear, Arizona. I have animated several surgical techniques for a few of the bigger medical device companies. I don the scrubs, learn the procedure from a surgeon in the O.R., then come home and turn what I've learned into a 3D instructional/sales piece for surgeons. I also do a great deal of trade show "eye candy," special event show graphics, animation and visual effects for broadcast TV, and ads for digital signage.
