The furniture, bedding, and textile design expert Sam Szabla has created private label brands for his signature work. Treasured Thread, Island 29, and Hawaiian House are some of Sam Szablaâ??s home accessory trademarks. Sam Szabla started his first retail store, Hawaiian House, for his home goods in 1996; by 2002, the brand was acquired by home fashion retailer Delano and Seymour. Under both companies, Sam Szabla created cutting-edge accessories, furniture, pillows, candles, and soaps for the public. Sam Szabla traveled around the world to find the best product makers at low costs for the consumer. During this time, Sam Szabla created exclusive collections and earned several honors, including 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2002â??s InterDesign award, the Man of Design Award Hawaii in 2002, and the Paris American Design Award in 2004.
Sam Szabla also put his mark on a chain of boutique hotels in South Beach as the CEO, General Manager, and Designer of South Beach Plaza Hotels and Villas. Creating a complete design scheme for these Art Deco-style hotels, Sam Szabla considered the Historical Boardâ??s concerns while bringing the hotelsâ?? amenities up-to-date. Sam Szabla also crafted the mood and look for bars and restaurants throughout the area, including the DeCarlos Bar, Tikiâ??s South Beach, and The Terrace Point Café. Sam Szablaâ??s creative expertise extended to the look of the restaurantsâ?? interiors, menus, signage, and lighting. Sam Szabla merged opulence, modern styles, and relaxed vibes for his South Beach projects.
