John Green began his professional career as a freelance news writer at Boston CBS affiliate WHDH in 1991. Green's professional relationship with ABC began when he produced a morning news and weekly bilingual news magazine at an ABC affiliate in Boston. In the mid-1990s John Green joined ABC News, and until 2001 worked as a field producer and supervising producer, covering news stories and events on location. These stories included the TWA 800 crash investigation, the Elian Gonzalez story, the collapse of the Russian economy, and the 2000 presidential season, as well as countless other modern historical news events. From 2001 to 2004, John Green worked as a Senior Producer of ?Good Morning America,? ABC News' flagship production, and at the same time ran the control room as the principal broadcast line producer. Green's ability to multitask helped him excel in the launching of ?Good Morning America's Weekend Edition? in 2004 with great success. Green continues to oversee the weekend broadcast, the fastest growing of the three weekend morning network news programs in the ratings for three straight years.
